Wilmington Events Selected as Top 20

Three annual events held in Wilmington, North Carolina were recently selected as the Southeast Tourism Society's Top 20 Events during the months of November and December. That's pretty high praise for this charming historic river district and island beach community.

The Cucalorus Film Festival (November 8-11) celebrates independent film making from around the world and showcases the artists and filmmakers who have impacted the local culture. The four-day event features screenings of over 190 films, filmmaking workshops, industry panels and social events.

The North Carolina Holiday Flotilla (November 23-25) takes place in Wrightsville Beach and kicks off the holiday season with the town's tree lighting ceremony followed by a festive gala of music and dancing, Festival in the Park featuring arts and crafts, children's activities and entertainment, and the grand finale of the North Carolina Holiday Flotilla. Now in its 29th year, the holiday flotilla features an illuminated boat parade of elaborately decorated sailing vessels, followed by a stunning fireworks display over the water.

Enchanted Airlie (November 23-December 21) creates a glitter and light spectacular in a coastal garden setting (pictured above). With more than 300,000 twinkling lights, outdoor garden trains, 250,000 LEGO pieces creating magical creations, and whimsical exhibits throughout the gardens, Enchanted Airlie is a thrill for visitors of all ages and will definitely get you in the holiday spirit.
