Charleston Restaurant Receives Best of Award of Excellence

The accolades for Charleston restaurants just keep on coming. This time, Social Restaurant + Wine Bar is the recipient of Wine Spectator's 2012 Best of Award of Excellence for its wine program.

The Best of Award of Excellence signifies an elevated recognition of a restaurant's wine program. To qualify for one of three levels of Best of Award of Excellence, a wine list must meet a certain amount criteria as deemed by Wine Spectator. Social Restaurant + Wine Bar received the second tier award (only one notch down from the highest level), for their vintage depth, with vertical offerings of several top producers from major regions and their excellent breadth spread over several wine-growing regions. According to Wine Spectator, Social Restaurant + Wine Bar "serves a young clientele adventurous about wine with an eclectic list."

Social Restaurant + Wine Bar is one of ten South Carolina restaurants to receive the second tier of Award of Excellence, with 48 other SC restaurants receiving the third-tier award. No SC restaurants received the top Grand Award recognition.

Housed in a 19th century warehouse, Social Restaurant + Wine Bar features a four-thousand bottle display cellar (pictured above) and offers Charleston's largest selection of wines by the glass.
