Brews & Views on Tap at Beech Mountain

Ahhh.....summer in the mountains! What a better place to be? Throw in some beer, mountain biking, stellar mountain views and some live music and, now, we're talking heaven! And that's what you'll find at the second annual Bikes, Brews 'N Views Fest at North Carolina's Beech Mountain Resort on Saturday, July 21.

Held in conjunction with the three-day USA Cycling Mountain Bike Gravity National Championships, attendees get to sample more than forty craft brews, listen to smooth music from three different bands, and watch top professional and amateur mountain bikers defy gravity and compete for national titles.

The lifts will be running for amazing views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and 'above the trees' biking action. There will be plenty of kids activities to keep them busy including a kids village with games and activities and a bike rodeo for a chance to win a youth mountain bike.

The craft beer culture will be in full force with plenty of tastings of Blowing Rock Summer Ale, Southern Tier Hop Sun, Krombacher, Shock Top IPA, Lfeee, Brooklyn Brown, Abita Purple Haze, Lonerider Sweet Josie, Natty Greene Old Town Brow, Fatty Madd and many others.

The downhill biking action will run throughout the day with the dual slalom amateur finals at 2:15pm followed by the dual slalom professional finals at 5:45pm. The music stage will be going on all day as well with performances by The Shane Pruitt Band, a noted blues group from Spartanburg, the indie rock sounds of Enemy Loves from Asheville, and modern bluegrass from Asheville's Brushfire Stankgrass.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the gate (designated drivers admitted free) and include tastings, souvenir glass, music, and admission to the Mountain Bike Gravity National Championships.

Accommodation options abound at Beech Mountain from country inns and lodges to homes, chalets and condos. So plan to make a weekend of it. But please drink responsibly. Don't drink and drive (or bike).
