Nicholas Sparks to Host Weekend in New Bern, North Carolina
You've read his novels and seen his movies (often with the constant companion of tissue). Now you have a chance to see his hometown of New Bern, North Carolina through his eyes. Nicholas Sparks, author of best-selling romance novels such as The Notebook, Message in a Bottle, A Walk to Remember, Nights in Rodanthe, Dear John and many others will host the first annual Celebrity Family Weekend April 20-22 in New Bern to raise awareness and funds for the Nicholas Sparks Foundation.
Weekend events will include a celebrity golf tournament, a 5K run, boat tours, a film festival featuring all of the movies based on Sparks's novels, and a family fun night. You can even dine with the author at a luncheon or at a private brunch held at the Spark residence. And then the highlight of the weekend will be the exclusive screening of Sparks's latest novel and upcoming Warner Brothers movie, The Lucky One, starring Zac Efron.
Sparks and his family have invited celebrities from the world of sports, music, movies and television to help celebrate the star-studded weekend. Proceeds from the weekend will benefit the Nicholas Sparks Foundation, which supports global education initiatives for youth (Epiphany School), wounded warriors (Hope for the Warriors) and assistance dogs (Paws With a Cause).
Grab your tissue and make your plans now to rub elbows with Nicholas Sparks and friends in New Bern.
